Congratulation to our Superdraw prize winner Donal O'Suilleabhain. Donal takes away 2 stand tickets for the All Ireland Final along with 2 nights B&B in the Burlington Hotel.

A massive thank you from the Senior Committee to everyone who purchased tickets for this development fundraiser. All deepest gratitude to the fundraising committee who ran the event and to the many people who took and sold books of tickets.

Family Fun Day

This Saturday, Douglas GAA Street Leagues welcome all our parents and children along to a family fun day as part of the Douglas GAA Summer Festival. It will take place in the sport fields from 2pm until aprox 6pm, with Kids egg and spoon, Sack and 3 legged races.

The will be a huge array of Boucy Castles there also to entertain the kids. Along with that there will be the very entertaining novelty events like Soak the Coach and Cross Bar Challenge, Sumo Wrestling, Face Painting and of course an Ice Cream van.

There will also be a BBQ on the day.

1997/2000 Teams Reunion Match

This year`Douglas GAA Summer Festival is centered around a reunion of the victorious teams of 1997 and 2000, whose wins in the intermediate championships of that year elevated Douglas to the Senior ranks in both Hurling and Football. A position that is sustained today by the present crop of players in both codes.

A special exhibition match is planned for the Friday night, 30th Aug, with food and refreshments being served afterwards in the club. With people returning from afar this promises to be a great night full memories and stories of.

Hanrahan nets All Ireland Medal

Congratulations and a massive well done to David Hanrahan on winning a well deserved All Ireland medal with Cork last weekend. David was in goal for the Cork junior football team when the overcame a stern challenge from Kildare in the All Ireland junior football championship final played at the Gaelic grounds in Limerick on Saturday evening last.

After the agony of All Ireland final defeats playing for the Cork minors and also with this years Cork U21's, David has been rewarded for his efforts and perserverance.

Well done David from everyone at Douglas GAA Club.

Cork County Senior Football Championship

Douglas 1-14 Dohenys 3-07

Congratulations to the Douglas players and mentors on a great win in Macroom yesterday.

After another tough and dogged encounter, the lads showed determination and character and plenty of skill to book a place in the quarter final oF this year's championship. That clash will be against neighbours Nemo. The attach kicked some great score and the goal was vital. In a tense closing period it took some committed defending to see us over the line.
