The golf classic is one of the primary fund raisers in the club annually and the income generated plays a significant role in the funding and running of the Senior Hurling and Football squads each year. Without it the preparation of the Senior, Junior and Minor teams would be severely impacted.

Please do try to support this event in whatever way possible through participation or indeed sponsorship .

Scoil Nioclais Coaching Initiative

Today Douglas GAA visited Scoil Nioclas to announce an extended School coaching initiative.

Trained coaches from within our Senior Hurling and Football panels have made themselves available to provide coaching to the youngsters of Scoil Nioclais. This will happen as part of the sport curriculum within school hours and also as an after school option.

Current players Sean Collins, Dave Curtin and David Hanrahan will begin their coaching sessions in the week following the midterm break and continue until the end of the current school year.

Douglas St Patricks Day Parade 2013

The Douglas GAA Street Leagues recently participated in the Douglas Community Associations St Patricks Day parade.

It was a fantastic day, the weather held out and great crowds gather on the streets to see an array of sporting clubs, community organisations and fancy cars. There were stalls in the community park with all kinds of cakes, burgers, ice creams and lots more. There was a carousel for the smaller kids and some pony rides too.

2012 Street Leagues Annual General Meeting

Thank you to all who attended the Douglas Street Leagues Annual General Meeting on Thursday last 13th December @ Douglas GAA Club.

The Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer presented their reports for 2012. Congratulations to the outgoing committee for a fantastic job.

Indeed it is testament to the efforts of everyone involved that we now have approx 360 boys playing hurling and football with us. This is a massive job of work to keep the show on the road each week so a big well done to committee and mentors alike.

Michael Quirke Blitz:

The annual under 11 Michael Quirke hurling blitz will be played in Douglas tomorrow (Saturday 13th October). The action takes place between 1pm and 4pm and will be followed by prize giving.

Premier Minor County Football Final:

Premier Minor County Football Final
Douglas v. St. Finbarr’s (8pm in Páirc uí Rinn)

Douglas Ladies Football:

The under 12 mid Cork final is fixed for 12pm in Carrigadrohid.
