We would now like to give you an update on our Club Development Plan concerning the building of a new full-size pitch.
As you know in March 2022 ,99% of our members agreed we should support the re-zoning of lands adjacent to our club, swap our 80m x 40m pitch 4 for land at the end of pitch 3 and receive a cash donation, allowing us to build a third full size pitch.
This gives us 3 full size pitches in Douglas, a game changer for our One Club Model, 3000 members and 1700 players, as it ensures we can give equal and adequate access to pitches in the club for our GAA, Ladies Football and Camogie players.
At our December 2022 AGM our members ratified the land swap deal with a 100% majority allowing us to move on with the next step in the process.
We are now applying for planning permission to build a new access road and construct a new flood lit pitch per the image below. (Note there is uncertainty at the moment concerning the sustainability of 4G surfaces, our application now is for a natural grass pitch until there is more clarity).
As a club we are well aware of the need to foster a good relationship with our neighbours which is why we will do everything we can to limit the impact from our activities in this new facility.
The new pitch will be accessed by members primarily through our existing car parks & pedestrian entrances ,with the further option if needed of a proposed new entrance from Inchvale Road which could be used for drop-off/collection and to service the pitch.
The new entrance may also service the adjacent development lands which will be subject to a planning application at a later date. This is a process our club will not be involved in and which our agreement is not subject to.
Thank you for your ongoing support of One Club Douglas
